Rhythms of Our Roots
Lila Cooper (She/They) is a DMV-based Queer Performer, Activist and Teaching Artist. Since earning her BA in Theatre Performance (Wagner College, Class of 2021), Lila has been passionately pursuing a career in the arts. She's worked as a Teaching Artist at many local theatrical organizations (Round House Theatre, Olney Theatre Center, BlackRock Center for the Arts, and Adventure Theatre). Lila has also begun to make her mark as a professional performer and producer. Recent credits include: Rhythms of Our Roots: A Social Justice Cabaret Series (partnership with Olney Theatre Center and BlackRock Center for the Arts); A Guide to Modern Possession A New Musical by Caro Dubberly-Inaugural District Fringe Festival; Jesus Christ Superstar (Featured Dancer - Workhouse Arts Center), and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Olive Ostrovsky - Compass Rose Theatre). For Lila, the arts are a vessel that allow us to reflect on, escape from, and learn about everyday life. She hopes that through collective action, we can work together to create a kinder and more inclusive world.
